The Siemens Mechatronic Systems Certification Program (SMSCP) is the International industry standard for comprehensive skills certification in mechatronic systems offered together with Siemens SITRAIN Germany.  A world leader in mechatronic engineering & industrial automation, Siemens AG has collaborated with Dedan Kimathi University of Technology  (DeKUT) to address a global demand of mechatronic engineering skills for the Industry 4.0 revolution.

A pioneering Siemens Training and Research Centre in Sub-Suharan Africa known as “DeKUT-Siemens Mechatronics Certification Centre ” was established and is located at the DeKUT Main Campus, Nyeri-Kenya. The Centre benefits from worldwide standards for the training, research collaboration, and certification set by Siemens SITRAIN Germany, the holistic approach of teaching mechatronics to meet skills requirements from industry, and future-proof content such as the digital enterprise. The Siemens Centre at DeKUT, which is fully equipped and accredited by Siemens Germany, offers certification in the field of industrial digitization. This Centre has a proven record of accomplishment of training industrial professionals and universities in Africa such as the Pan African University Institute for Basic Sciences, Technology and Innovation (PAUSTI). One of its notable achievements is the creation of a generic virtual reality 3D biomedical modeling platform.
